Laaksha

Laksha‘ is based on the ancient Sri Lankan art of lacquer-work painting, which is used to decorate wooden objects such as vases, jewelry boxes, bowls, and walking stick handles. Following extensive research, we discovered a young talent named Indika teaching a community of women to lacquer in the village of Angul Maduwa. It was the birthplace of the Laksha industry many centuries ago, but the tradition had long since died out in the area. Indika, who is descended from a long line of Laksha craftsmen, is determined to bring it back, and we are eager to assist him. Indika designed all of the intricately designed jewelry boxes that hang above the bed, as well as the lampstands and candle holders.
