Kurulu

Kurulu‘ was designed as a tribute to Sri Lanka’s extraordinary array of bird life, which includes many of our neighbors here at Hikkaduwa Lake, also known as ‘bird lake.’ Our island is home to over 242 indigenous bird species, including our iconic peacocks, emerald parakeets, paradise flycatchers, and sunshine-yellow orioles. But their numbers more than double each year, to 436 recorded species, with the arrival of flocks of migrants fleeing the cold winters of Western and Northern Europe and Siberia, so that we have the richest bird life in Asia for half of the year.
